What would you do?

What would you do if...

you had one roundtrip ticket to Long Beach, CA?

you had a vacant condo overlooking the ocean in Laguna?

someone offered to take ALL of your children for 4 days?

Here's what I did...

hopped on a plane

turned off my phone

rented a car

drove the PCH with my favorite tunes blasting

slept in

stayed up late watching HGTV on cable

long runs on the beach

read 3 books

giggled about not having to talk to anyone for 4 days

didn't cook a thing

sat at the beach for 8 hours- ALONE

got my hair done

visited bjorn and bridgette's new baby

and made a single purchase in the SL airport just before Jeremy picked me up

behold the coolest galoshes on the planet!

Howloing!

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME THE PURPOSE OF THIS HOLIDAY?

I may sound like a nay-sayer, but if I had more time to be proactive, I might invent something a little less torturous for parents..
passing out vegetables...
trick-or-treating in the daytime
wearing only masks instead of elaborate costumes...
having a class party and calling it good for the day:
i will admit to getting a good laugh out of my little duck, and a good cry because the pink devil had such a hard day, she didn't make it trick-or-treating.
sometimes life doesn't go as planned.

The HOuSE

Fortunately... We have a lovely, warm home to live in...
It is newly painted and very cute
It is 1800 square feet and has more space than I could ever ask for
We have neighbors that love us and glad that we are NOT MOVING
We will not be leaving a place we feel loved, safe and comfortable.

Unfortunately... Our home did not SELL
BEFORE the home we were going to buy was ready to go under contract.
We felt like it had been the right thing to do...
BUT the realtor of the other house seemed very dishonest and fishy.
Maybe that is why it didn't turn out the way we had hoped.
Maybe it is because we aren't supposed to move.

Most Likely...We will try again in the spring,
and LOOK for a house after this house sells.
How does anyone time this right?
So that they can move right out of one house and into another ?
I feel disappointed that we didn't end up with the bigger home...
and the new set of challenges...
BUT its a fall to be so very grateful for what we already have!

JOB, HEALTH, EACH OTHER, our HOME, FRIENDS, FAMILY CLOSE BY, the GOSPEL, HOPE, GOOD FOOD, FALL LEAVES, SUNSHINE, SCHOOL, GREAT BOOKS, OPERAS, ADVENTURES.......

if you want the skinny on the other house, it was 3200 square feet. 6 Bedrooms. a few miles away, a flat roof, mid-century treasure, but there is NO way we are going to get into 2 mortgages just for something bigger. that would be foolish! So, for now, we are still home. im sure there is something even better out there we'll find next spring!
